IPL skin rejuvenation offers the very latest and most effective way of improving:
- Skin texture
- Age spots
- Facial veins
- Fine lines
- Enlarged pores
- Acne scarring.
Best of all, IPL skin rejuvenation is non-invasive: it is just a beam of light.
IPL skin rejuvenation is a gradual process so typically 6 to ten treatments would be needed. The improvements are subtle and the treatment won’t interrupt your normal activities.
IPL skin rejuvenation FAQs
What do I need to do before an IPL skin treatment?
Avoid sunlight where possible – and if you do go in the sun, wear a good quality sun block (if you don’t have any, you can purchase sunscreen from us).
This is because treatments work best on pale skin – so winter is a particularly good time to have IPL skin rejuvenation treatments.
What happens during an IPL facial treatment?
First of all, we’ll need some health and medical details from you so that we can safely administer the IPL skin treatment.
During the treatment you’ll be asked to wear dark glasses or goggles to protect your eyes from the bright light.
Next, a cold gel is spread over the treatment area. The hand piece is applied to the skin and pulses of light are flashed onto the treatment area.
Does IPL skin rejuvenation hurt?
Each pulse of light feels like a slight sting or pinch, similar to the snap of a rubber band. Most people don’t find this painful.
Are there any possible side effects? What do I need to do after an IPL skin rejuvenation treatment?
Side effects are rare. The skin (especially pigmented areas) will often become darker or lighter following treatment, but will start returning to normal after a week or two, as the skin naturally exfoliates. Limiting sun exposure before and after each treatment will minimise the risk of complications, and wearing a good quality sun block every day for at least 2 weeks following your treatment is a must. Avoid using exfoliating products on your face for 5 days following your IPL facial treatment.
Does IPL work? What kind of results can I expect with IPL skin rejuvenation treatments?
Yes, IPL is an effective facial rejuvenation treatment. It creates a consistent improvement in skin tone and appearance over the course of the treatments. The number of treatments required depends on several factors related to your skin and the type and severity of skin issues being treated. Sometimes as few as 2 treatments achieve excellent results, but sometimes a few more are required to achieve the desired level of improvement. We’ll be able to give you a realistic expectation during your consultation.
I’d like multiple areas treated, or a combination of IPL hair removal and skin rejuvenation. Are any packages or discounts available?
Yes, packages are available for multiple treatments – please contact us for pricing.
What technology do you use?
We use an intense pulsed light device called Harmony by Alma Lasers™. The founders of Alma Lasers have been at the forefront of innovative medial technologies since 1980. The Harmony uses FDA approved Advanced Fluorescent Technology (AFT). This patented technology transcends the older, painful treatments to deliver long lasting results. Treatments are safe, fast and gentle.
Are there any products I can use to accelerate the effectiveness of IPL skin treatments?
Yes, the Aspect range of cosmeceuticals is an ideal partner to the IPL treatments. Aspect products are available from Rubywaxx, both online and in our salons – just ask us which product is right for you.
This Rubywaxx customer shared her Before and After photos of her IPL skin rejuvenation treatments:
Here’s what one Rubywaxx customer has to say about her IPL pigmentation treatment:
“My uneven skin pigmentation was really bothering me, as even makeup couldn’t disguise it. My skin is already looking better after just one treatment – it now looks better without makeup, than beforehand with makeup. Plus, my overall skin texture has improved… just the one treatment has made me look several years younger already. I’m thrilled!”
